How to structure your startup Pitch?

Story is everything.

Nearly all successful modern movies follow the hero’s journey in a three-act structure: The Set-up, The Confrontation and The Resolution.

The set-up describes the hero’s world, the status quo. The confrontation introduces the stuff of narrative—tension and battle between hero and villain. The resolution ends with the hero’s conquest over the villain and, most important, shows how the hero’s world is transformed for the better.

What if we use the '3-Act Structure' Pitch Decks and Pitching?

Weaving a narrative that engages the audience, captures their attention, and leaves a lasting impression is the key.

Steve Jobs used the '3-Act Structure' while introducing Macintosh on January 24, 1984.

Here's a visual framework on applying the 3-Act Structure' to pitch decks

Act 1: The Set-up

Just as the hero's journey starts with a status quo, we begin by establishing the current landscape and context. We highlight the pain points, challenges, or unmet needs that exist, drawing the audience into the narrative.

Act 2: The Confrontation

Delve into the heart of the pitch. Just like the hero faces formidable obstacles and battles against a villain, this act confronts the challenges head-on. Introduce the solution, unique approach, and product/service, positioning it as the hero that can overcome the obstacles.

Act 3: The Resolution

This is the culmination of our pitch, where we reveal the triumphant resolution. Just as the hero conquers the villain and brings about positive transformation, we present the outcomes and benefits of embracing our solution. We showcase success stories, testimonials, or data that support the transformative power of our pitch.
